A Figment of Imagination, 2011 (an homage to my hero, Bill Watterson)
Truest friend are always the imaginary one. Only in imagination you can find the ideal, perfect friend. You can shape them as you wish, bend them as you like.
In the real life, we face imperfection, because real life friends had weaknesses, those minus points we can not avoid. And this is where I went wrong. Most of the times I can’t readily accept my friends’ minus points. I overlooked their strength and abilities, their good side and their smiles up to a point where I forgot that they possessed also imperfections and ugliness. That they’re human after all: just like me. I messed everything for mixing up the idea of ‘what I wish my friends are’ versus ‘what my friends really are.’ And this is, so far, has been my biggest regret.
Here’s to every friends that I’ve done and treated wrong: I am truly sorry. From now on, I promise to accept friends for everything they are, no irrational expectation, no dreamy wishes :-)
